Ten Ways To Recycle Used Cardboard Boxes

The main way to recycle used cardboard boxes is: Send the used cardboard boxes to the paper mill as raw materials for paper making.

The paper mill sorts according to the different waste paper.

Then, according to the quality of the sorted waste paper, it is put into the pulp pond and made into pulp according to the technological process.

We can recycle paper products such as newspapers, office papers and so on.

Pulp is the main raw material for papermaking. Most of the base paper made from waste paper pulp is the grade below C.

Now, the world is in a state of tight resources.

For this reason, in order to save resources and avoid waste, the country calls on everyone to recycle and reuse recyclable resources.

After recovering paper items, they will be re-made pulp, paper goods and then made available.

In this article, I will show you ten ways to recycle use cardboard boxes.

1. Manufacture of recycled paper

This is the most extensive way to recycle used cardboard boxes.

Not only can be used to make recycled packaging paper, but also used to make recycled newsprint.

A French paper company developed a new process for newsprint recycling.

This new process includes four steps: deinking, purification of paper fibers, absorbing ink and impurities, and papermaking.

The specific process is:
First, select the technology according to the type of ink.

Second, send the paper fiber and soap-based deinking agent into the deinking chamber.

Make the ink and impurities float to the surface with the foam, and suck it away with the suction device.

Secondly, the purified fiber pulp is concentrated to 15%. By heating, the paper fibers are expanded. It can also be bleached to give the recycled paper a glossy feel.

Finally, the pulp is sent to the paper making equipment, and the recycled paper with the same whiteness as the new paper can be made.

2.  Production of phenolic resin

Oji Paper Co., Ltd. of Japan has successfully researched a new technology for dissolving used cardboard box in phenol to produce phenolic resin.

Therefore, the strength of the phenolic resin produced is higher than that of products made with phenol and acetaldehyde as raw materials.

And the heat distortion temperature is 10 ° C higher than that of the conventional phenolic resin.

In production, old newspapers and office waste paper can be used as raw materials, but the cost of using office waste paper as raw materials is low, only half of the use of old newspapers.

3. Making home appliances

In places such as Singapore, people use cardboard boxes, old books and other waste paper materials to roll them into round sticks.

Make hand-woven carpets, cushions, handbags, cat litters, curtains, and even household appliances such as coffee tables and lying beds.

During the production, according to different shapes of electrical appliances, weave different patterns. Then decorate the colors to make the household appliances made practical and beautiful.

4. Pressed glued cardboard

The former Czechoslovakian scientists and technicians used five layers of waste paper and synthetic resin at a temperature of 80 ° C to form a glued cardboard.

Its compressive strength is more than twice that of ordinary cardboard.

The packaging box made of this glued cardboard can use nails and screws, and can install bearing rollers.

Its firmness is almost the same as the packaging box, made of plywood.

5. Moulded asphalt shingle slab

Scientists and technicians from the Central Institute of Architecture in India, use waste cardboard boxes, cotton yarn ends and asphalt as raw materials to mold new building materials, asphalt cardboard.

The advantages of this kind of asphalt corrugated cardboard covering the house are: good heat insulation performance, impermeability, light weight, low cost, not easy to burn and corrosion resistance.

6. Methane recovery

Experts at Lundau University in Sweden use used cardboard box to obtain methane.

The steps are:

  • Put the waste paper pulp, and then add a solution that can decompose the pulp.
  • Moved to the reaction furnace, cellulose, methanol, etc. in waste paper pulp are converted into methane.
  • Use enzymes to remove wood extracts to obtain fuel methane.

7. Improve soil quality

In some pastures in Alabama, USA, the soil is hardened and grass is not grown in some places.

The state’s soil expert James Edwards is based on the characteristics that waste paper will not decay quickly in the soil.

Use waste paper scraps and chicken manure mixed with the original soil to improve the soil quality of the pasture.

The proportion is: shredded paper scraps 40%, chicken manure 10%, and original soil 50%.

In this way, the waste paper can quickly rot and deteriorate under the action of the base fertilizer bacteria in chicken manure.

The soil becomes soft and abnormal within 3 months. Not only suitable for the production of forage, so that the forage grows vigorously.

In fact it can grow a variety of crops such as soybeans, cotton and vegetables, and the output is quite high.

At the same time, there will be no side effects on the pasture land.

If two years later, the land is refilled with new waste paper scraps and chicken manure, the soil will become more fertile and loose.

8. Cultivate Pleurotus ostreatus

British technology personnel cultivated Pleurotus ostreatus with waste paper, and obtained high economic benefits.

The specific method is:

1.Firstly, dispose of the waste paper into pieces.

Soak it in water for 72 hours.

Remove the printed matter and dust, and then break up the small pieces of paper.

2.After that, mix the waste paper with the cut lantana in a ratio of 1: 2.

And put it into a sterilized wooden shallow basin.

3.After inoculating the bacteria, cover the wooden pot with plastic film and put it in a 25 ° C culture room.

After 34 days of hypha development, remove the cover film and move to a collection room at room temperature of 20 ° C.

4.After 20 days of growth, mushrooms can be harvested.

Generally, it can be harvested continuously for 4 months, and 1.5 kg of mushrooms can be harvested per pot.

9. Used as bedding in livestock pens

For a long time, people mostly used hay and saws as bedding in livestock pens.

But in recent years, the United States and Western European countries have used waste paper as a substitute.

British cattle farms, pig farms and chicken farms use waste paper scraps as bedding in the pens, the effect is better.

In broiler chicken pens, waste cardboard paper scraps have been spread from brooding to slaughter.

And the weight of each chicken can increase by an average of 7.9%.

For every 1000 broiler chickens, only 192 kg of waste paper scraps need to be paved.

Compared with the traditional bedding hay and sawdust, waste paper scraps are more hygienic and free of toxic substances like tannins present in sawdust.

At the same time, the moisture content is low, and the thermal insulation performance is better than other materials.

Especially suitable for the growth and development of chicks and newborn pups.

10. Processed into cattle and sheep feed

Countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia have all developed good methods for processing waste paper into cattle and sheep feed.

The method of Larry Berg, an animal nutritionist at the University of Erie, is:

1.First chop the old cardboard paper, add water and 2% hydrochloric acid, then boil for 2 hours.

2.Under the action of high temperature and acid, cellulose breaks down.

3.Then add to the feed to feed cattle and sheep, the proportion of addition is 20% ~ 40%.

In British cattle farms and sheep farms, after processing the waste paper a little.

It is cut into slender strips or kneaded into small paper balls.

And then a small amount of nutrients is added, which can be used to feed cattle and sheep.

The weight gain of ordinary feed is 1/3.

Australian scientists crushed waste paper, mixed with proper amount of linseed oil and honey. And made pellet feed for cattle and sheep, which can increase the weight of cattle and sheep.
